Blanking Die for Large Ring, R2

This tool steel blanking die produces a large ring blank (2-5/16"L x 5/8"W) from sheet metal up to 18 ga. thick. The blank, once cut, is ready to bend, form and smooth into the ring design you want. Blanking dies allow jewelry makers to quickly and repeatably cut multiple metal blanks of the exact same shape and size. These dies are made from a single sheet of tool steel (approx. 3/32" thick) and feature a shape created by one continuous cut through the metal. The cut forms a "flap" of metal in the sheet with the shape of the desired blank at the free end. To use a blanking die, slide your metal under the cut-out shape until the shape is positioned completely over the metal. Then set the die and metal sheet in the center of the platen on your hydraulic press. Close the platens of your press to cut the metal sheet. Trim off any portion of the flap that was cut, and your blank is ready to be formed into your jewelry design.
